About The Client
Our client is a leading MNC, currently hiring a Data Privacy Counsel with 6+ years of relevant experience to join as part of the legal team. Reporting into the Senior Legal Counsel, you'd be responsible for full spectrum of personal data protection/privacy matters.
About The Role
- Serve as the primary point of contact for APAC data protection authorities and data subjects
- Research, formulate and update regional data protection policies of various jurisdictions, ensuring the business meets its legal, regulatory and reputation responsibility
- Work closely with business teams and related control functions advising on privacy strategy, analyse on business initiatives to identify data privacy risk, and provide solutions
- Drive and implement privacy compliance ensuring related requirements are met in relevant countries, and provide support on contract negotiations
- Conduct training sessions for employees involved in data handling and processing across all business units
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Law or above
- 6-8+ years of relevant in-house experience in data/privacy law
- Knowledge around APAC and EU data protection and privacy legal frameworks
- Experience in China data protection laws will be essential
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese
- Analytical, keen attention to detail, strong problem-solving and project management skills
- Independent, self-starter, sense of ownership to improve the company data protection practice
