5 mins read

The word “Mom” is the sweetest whisper on our lips, shining like brilliant stars, illuminating and warming countless hearts. On this day dedicated to mothers, let’s meet Cecilia Liang, KOS Mainland China’s Associate Director. The past year has been miraculous and fruitful for her. While welcoming her little one and becoming a mother, she also demonstrated exceptional performance, becoming KOS mainland’s top biller for 2024 and receiving the 2025 Gllue Top Headhunter Award. She led her team to outstanding achievements amidst fierce market competition. On this significant Mother’s Day, let’s explore how Cecilia continues to shine in her new life role and in her career, embodying the beautiful power of women.
Achieving Top Biller During Pregnancy? A Positive Mindset is Key
Facing the downturn in the real estate industry, how did Cecilia manage to become the company’s top biller, even during her pregnancy?
“I’m actually someone who can find inner peace and doesn’t preset difficulties. I believe life inevitably gets more challenging, and I can only control my time and my own efforts,” Cecilia explains. In her view, when faced with challenges, willpower becomes the sword that cuts through obstacles. If a problem can’t be overcome immediately, it’s better to adjust goals reasonably. The key is to maintain inner peace, avoid unhappiness, and prevent internal conflicts.
During her pregnancy, Cecilia never fully stepped away from work. Rather than the commonly discussed “hustle culture,” we sense Cecilia’s genuine passion for her work. She often enumerates the interesting aspects of her headhunting job—such as the diverse perspectives and thought processes she gains from interacting with numerous excellent candidates. Cecilia says, “I’m someone who enjoys work. For me, work is a significant source of fulfillment and happiness. From pregnancy to childbirth, I never completely stopped working. I’ve always believed that women’s happiness can come from many sources. If I had focused solely on pregnancy then, or only on work now, I would have been overly concerned with gains and losses. Multiple sources of happiness keep my emotions more stable.”
Pregnancy Challenges Recognized: My Sense of Security Comes from Leadership
During her pregnancy, Cecilia was promoted to Associate Director due to her outstanding performance. Pregnancy-period promotions are not common in the workplace. Cecilia gratefully expresses, “I’m fortunate that I’ve always been ‘seen’ by the company and my leaders, both in terms of the challenges I faced during pregnancy and my efforts.”
“In the early stages of pregnancy, I received some negative information, such as the difficulties of pregnancy, the pain of childbirth, the exhaustion of caring for a baby, and the possibility of being sidelined at work after returning. These were very anxiety-inducing messages. But I’m extremely grateful to our CEO Louisa and Managing Director of Mainland China Calvin. During my pregnancy, they gave me a strong sense of security. They truly understand the challenges women face during pregnancy. I’m lucky to have leaders who understand and trust me, providing me with a lot of support both psychologically and professionally, giving me ample flexibility and space to arrange my life and work well. So, pregnancy didn’t become a hurdle in my career.”
We’re Business Partners
The sense of security, trust, and flexibility that Cecilia felt from her leaders influences her thoughts on “leadership.” She hopes to pass on this warmth and strength to her team.
“The leadership I’ve been inspired by from them often makes me think about what a good leader can be like,” Cecilia sincerely says.
Cecilia is deeply grateful for her team. In her eyes, team members are united, trust each other highly, work at a quick pace, and have a strong sense of purpose. Even during the period when she left the team to focus on caring for her child, the team continued to operate efficiently and in an orderly manner.
“I believe managing a team isn’t about adopting a leadership mindset or posture, but rather seeing each team member as my companion. We’re not superiors and subordinates, but partners working together to achieve a goal. I may have more experience, and it’s my responsibility to lead everyone to success together.” Transitioning from an individual contributor to a team leader, Cecilia always puts the team’s interests first. For every decision and action, she carefully considers whether it benefits the entire team’s development and whether it’s something the team members can identify with and strive for.
“A crucial point is that I can’t betray the team’s trust. I need to ensure everyone learns and achieves professional development, living up to the expectations of everyone in the team.” Now, having returned to work, Cecilia quickly regained her rhythm and began exploring future business opportunities with her team.
Work Hard, Stay Humble
When asked for advice for newcomers in the headhunting industry, Cecilia responded without hesitation: “It’s definitely about hard work. I believe that when facing any situation, you should act first before judging whether it can be successful. Don’t preset too many difficulties.” In her view, hard work is the key to success. Only by taking the first brave step and actively putting in effort can one have the chance to reap the fruits of success.
“Another important aspect is maintaining humility. When entering a new environment, set aside the pride from past achievements. Approach with a humble attitude and keep learning continuously. Don’t let pride rob you of your curiosity and ability to learn.” Cecilia deeply understands that in a competitive workplace, humility is the cornerstone of continuous progress. Only by staying humble can one absorb new knowledge and experiences like a sponge, allowing for continuous skill improvement.
In Cecilia, we see the shining qualities of women. She is confident, resilient, and warm, like a radiant star, illuminating those around her while striving to shine herself.
As Mother’s Day approaches, on this holiday filled with love and gratitude, KOS sincerely extends the best wishes to every mother. May each mother bloom with her unique radiance, find her own happiness and fulfillment, because you are not just mothers, but also uniquely yourselves.
