About Our Client
My client is a growing securities firm with SFC license type 1,2,4, 6 and 9 and they are looking for a head of legal to lead a team of 4 people.
About The Role
- Manage/supervise the legal team to perform legal review/drafting of legal documents and provide legal advice on relevant laws and regulations to all business units related to securities/ brokerage
- Solid experience in securities brokerage and understand SFC requirements in relevant margin rules and other requirements in Securities and Futures Ordinance
- Experience in handling funds setup and various fund structure under Cayman and BVI laws and able to give professional advice to business units when necessary
- Working closely with compliance team and other supporting departments (ie finance; risk and operation) to provide timely support as and when necessary
- Provide legal and regulatory advice to business management, to ensure business units are in line with relevant laws and regulatory requirements
- Handling ad hoc duties as and when delegated by the senior management
Requirements
- University degree and/or post-graduate degree in Law, HK qualified lawyer/ admitted to practice law in a common law jurisdiction
- Relevant work experience including a combination of experience as in-house counsel in the financial services industry
- Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral (Chinese and English), together with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues on all levels locally and regionally
- Full working proficiency in Mandarin is essential
- Ability to prioritize and manage workflow in an active and multi-jurisdictional transactional environment
- Strong sense of work responsibility and ability to lead a sizeable team
- Ability to timely and appropriately identify and escalate issues
