About The Client
Our client is one of the well-established conglomerates with boasting operations in Greater China, especially the Greater Bay Area. As part of business expansion, they are hiring a seasoned General Counsel to oversee the legal and business affairs based in Hong Kong.
About The Role
Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead the legal team and be responsible for:
- Directing and controlling the company's legal, regulatory and compliance affairs
- Advising the company in all legal and commercial matters, including drafting, reviewing and negotiate business contracts, policies and employee handbooks related to corporate governance
- Ensure all legal, regulatory and compliance functions are compliant and appropriate to protect company assets and individuals within the organisation
- Mitigate legal risks and provide legal advice as appropriate
- Liaise with external counsels as required
- Provide legal training to business stakeholders as needed
Requirements
- PQE15+ commercial experience from sizeable corporates/ conglomerates with matrix structure
- Prior team supervisory experience and a proven people leader essential to excel in this role
- Highly proficient in written and spoken Chinese and English
- Expert in core company/commercial legal areas e.g. Commercial Contracts, Consumer Rights, Data Protection etc
- Experience in drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts within a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Pragmatic and commercial approach to problem solving and advising senior business stakeholders on decision maker
- Self-motivated within a demanding environment and able to prioritise workload
