My client is a leading off-price retailer, offering a wide range of branded apparel, home goods, and accessories at exceptional value. With a strong presence in the Hong Kong market, my client is expanding the operations and seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sourcing Manager (Beauty) to join the team. This is a newly created role based in Hong Kong, reporting to the Division Vice President.

Role Overview:


As the Sourcing Manager (Beauty), you will play a critical role in managing and leading the sourcing activities for beauty product category. You will work closely with the buying team to identify and engage with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products. With a focus on Korea as a key production country, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, conducting market research, and leveraging your industry expertise to drive cost-effective sourcing strategies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supplier Management:

    • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers for the beauty product category, with a specific focus on Korea as a key production country.
    • Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to ensure competitive advantage and maximize cost savings.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement in quality, delivery, and innovation.
  2. Product Sourcing:

    • Collaborate closely with the buying team to understand product requirements, trends, and market demands.
    • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify potential sourcing opportunities, ensuring a diverse and competitive supplier base.
    • Proactively seek new sources of supply, both domestically and internationally, to optimize product quality, availability, and cost.
  3. Team Management:

    • Lead and manage a team of 4 sourcing professionals in Hong Kong, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
    • Set performance goals and objectives, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the team, promoting a positive and motivating work environment.
  4. Supply Chain Optimization:

    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including logistics, quality assurance, and compliance, to ensure smooth and efficient supply chain operations.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and risk mitigation within the sourcing and supply chain functions.
    • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supplier performance, delivery, quality, and cost, taking appropriate actions to address any issues.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within the beauty or retail industry.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the beauty product market, with a specific focus on Korean suppliers and production.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and driving cost savings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage and develop a team of sourcing professionals.
  • Proficiency in English. Fluency in Korean is a plus.
